How to review collected financial records in Case Data

Review collected financial records in Case Data. Browse linked accounts by institution, review transactions and investment holdings, analyze spending by category, and tag records during your review.

Browse accounts

Click Case Data in the left sidebar. Each financial institution appears in the Data Sources panel alongside the other collected data sources. Click an institution to see the accounts collected from it. Click an account to open it.

Review transactions

Credit card and bank accounts display a transaction list. Each transaction shows the date, description, category, amount, status (Pending or Posted), and tags. The account balance appears in the top right corner.

  • Use Search transactions to find specific transactions.

  • Turn on Recurring only to show only recurring transactions, or Full description to show the full bank description for each transaction.

  • Use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom to move through pages.

The toolbar at the top has five tools:

  • Comments — Open the comments panel for the account.

  • Print — Print the transaction list.

  • Statements — View the bank statements collected for the account.

  • Analysis — View transaction totals by category.

  • Bulk Tag — Apply a tag to many transactions at once.

Analyze spending by category

Click Analysis at the top of a transaction view to see totals by category. Each category shows its total debits and credits, with account totals at the bottom.

Review investment holdings

Investment accounts display holdings instead of transactions. Each holding shows the security ticker and name, type, quantity, price, value, and cost basis. The account’s total value appears in the top right corner. Use Search holdings to find a specific security.

Tagging

To tag a single transaction, click the + in the Tags column and select a tag from the list.

To tag multiple items at once, click Bulk Tag in the toolbar and select the tag you want to apply. Click rows to add or remove the tag — the Tag Action column shows what clicking each row will do. Click Done when you’re finished.
