How to manage collection requests

How to manage collection requests — track data source status, use action buttons, generate authenticity certificates, and lock collections.

Manage extraction codes, track data source status, generate authenticity certificates, and take actions on collection requests from the Collection Requests page.

Open the Collection Requests page

Click Collection Requests in the left sidebar of any case. The page displays all collection requests for the case. Each custodian appears as a card at the top — click a card to view that custodian's request details.

Collection request details

Each collection request lists the data sources requested.

Action buttons

The action buttons appear to the right of the extraction code:

  • Link icon — Copy the Upload Portal link

  • Portal — Open the Upload Portal in a new tab

  • Remind — Send the custodian a reminder email with their extraction code and Upload Portal link

  • Equipment — Order a rental laptop or extraction kit for the custodian

  • Assistance — Request managed service assistance for this collection

Data source status

The Data Sources table lists every data source for the collection request. Each row shows the source name, status, file size, and completion date. Collected sources include View and Details buttons on the right.

Once a phone collection is completed, the source row updates to show the device name along with the file size and completion date.

Authenticity certificates

The Authenticity Certificates section appears below the Data Sources table when at least one phone collection is complete. Certificates provide verifiable records of the phone collection, including data integrity hashes (SHA-256), chain of custody, and collection method details.

Lock Collection

Click Lock Collection at the bottom of the page to prevent the custodian from submitting additional data. The page displays: "Locking prevents further data submissions from the custodian."
