Use the review toolbar and View Settings to customize how you review conversations in Case Data. These tools are available when viewing any message conversation.
Review toolbar
The toolbar above the conversation provides access to all review tools.
From left to right:
Search evidence for keyword search within the current conversation
Jump to for date navigation
Translate to English for translations
Comments for conversation-level annotations
Print for printing
Bulk Tag for tagging multiple messages
View Settings for comparing conversations and other review preferences
View Settings
Click the gear icon in the toolbar to open the View Settings panel.
The panel controls what appears in the conversation:
Tags: Show or hide tag badges on messages.
Phone Numbers: Show or hide participant phone numbers.
Gap Analysis: Show deleted message indicators inline in the conversation. Bars show the number of deleted messages and the time range they span.
Font Size: Adjust the text size (Small, Medium, Large).
Auto-scroll: Review a conversations while the screen automatically scrolls
Compare with another conversation: Open a side-by-side comparison view.
Jump to date
Click Jump to in the toolbar to open the date picker.
Enter a specific date or use the quick presets: Today, 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 3 months ago, Oldest, or Most recent. Click Jump to scroll to the nearest message on that date.
Translate messages
Click Translate to English in the toolbar to translate messages from another language to English.
Choose the source language from the Translate From dropdown. Options include Auto-detect, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Chinese. Translations appear below each original message in the review portal.
Update participant names
Click a participant name in the conversation header to rename them.
Type the updated name and click Save. Exports will mark the contact name as "(Edited)" in the conversation metadata.
Gap Analysis
Gap Analysis detects if any messages were deleted off the phone during the timeframe of the conversation being viewed. Deleted messages indivated by gap analysis could be from the conversation being viewed, or any other conversation on the phone. Enable it from View Settings by toggling Gap Analysis on.
When enabled, highlighted bars appear inline in the conversation where deleted messages are detected. Each bar shows the number of deleted messages and the time range they span. This helps identify potential evidence gaps during review.
