Use the review toolbar and View Settings to customize how you review conversations in Case Data. These tools are available when viewing any message conversation — text messages, WhatsApp, or social media.
Review toolbar
The toolbar appears below the conversation header when you open a conversation. It includes:
Search evidence — Search for keywords within the current conversation
Jump to — Jump to a specific date in the conversation
Translate to English — Translate messages from another language
Comments — Open the comments panel
Print — Export the conversation
Attachments — View all attachments in the conversation
Bulk Tag — Apply tags to multiple messages at once
Click the gear icon in the top right to open View Settings.
View Settings
The View Settings panel controls what is displayed in the conversation:
Tags — Show or hide tag badges on messages
Phone Numbers — Show or hide participant phone numbers
Gap Analysis — Show deleted message indicators inline in the conversation
Font Size — Adjust the text size (Small, Medium, Large)
Auto-scroll — Automatically scroll to the latest messages
Compare with another conversation — Open a side-by-side comparison view
Jump to date
Click Jump to in the toolbar to open the date picker. Enter a specific date or use the quick jump presets: Today, 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 3 months ago, Oldest, or Most recent. Click Jump to scroll to the nearest message on that date.
Translate messages
Click Translate to English in the toolbar to translate messages from another language. Select the source language — Auto-detect, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, or Chinese — and translations appear below each original message.
Update participant names
Click the participant count link next to the conversation name (e.g., "2 participants") to open the Participants panel. Enter a First name and Last name for each phone number and click Save. The updated name replaces the existing contact name throughout the conversation.
Gap Analysis
Enable Gap Analysis in View Settings to display deleted message indicators inline in the conversation. Orange bars show the number of deleted messages and the time range they span (e.g., "4 deleted messages Jun 28, 3:36 PM — Jul 2, 5:04 AM"). This helps identify gaps in the message timeline.
