How do I use review tools?

Use the toolbar and View Settings to search, translate, tag, and comment while reviewing conversations.

The review toolbar appears when you open a conversation in Case Data. These tools are available when viewing any message conversation, including text messages, WhatsApp, and social media.

The toolbar includes Search evidence, Jump to, Translate to English, Comments, Print, Attachments, and Bulk Tag. Click the gear icon in the top right to open View Settings.

View Settings

Click the gear icon in the top right of the toolbar to open the View Settings panel.

The panel controls what appears in the conversation:

  • Tags: Show or hide tag badges on messages.

  • Phone Numbers: Show or hide participant phone numbers.

  • Gap Analysis: Show deleted message indicators inline in the conversation. Orange bars show the number of deleted messages and the time range they span.

  • Font Size: Adjust the text size (Small, Medium, Large).

  • Auto-scroll: Automatically scroll to the latest messages.

  • Compare with another conversation: Open a side-by-side comparison view.

Jump to date

Click Jump to in the toolbar to open the date picker.

Enter a specific date or use the quick presets: Today, 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 3 months ago, Oldest, or Most recent. Click Jump to scroll to the nearest message on that date.

Search within a conversation

Type a keyword in the Search evidence bar in the toolbar to find matches within the current conversation.

The search requires at least three characters. Matching messages are highlighted in the conversation, and a match count shows how many results were found. Use the up and down arrows next to the search bar to jump between matches.

Tags

Click a message to open the Evidence panel, where you can view and manage tags for that message.

To tag multiple messages at once, click Bulk Tag in the toolbar. For more on creating and managing tags, see How do I tag messages?.

Comments

Click Comments in the toolbar or click a message to open the Evidence panel, which includes the Comments section.

Add a comment to annotate a specific message or leave notes for other reviewers. For more on adding comments, see How do I add comments?.

Translate messages

Click Translate to English in the toolbar to translate messages from another language.

Choose the source language from the Translate From dropdown. Options include Auto-detect, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Chinese. Translations appear below each original message.
