How to use Case Search

How to search across all data sources in a case using Text and Bulk search modes.

Search across all data sources in a case — text messages, emails, social media messages, and files — from a single search bar on the Case Data page.


Open Case Search

Click Case Data in the left sidebar. The "Search case data..." search bar appears at the top of the page.


Choose a search mode

Click the search bar to open the search panel. Choose a search mode:

  • Text — Search for a single keyword or phrase

  • Bulk — Search for multiple keywords at once

Toggle between Fuzzy (close or partial matches) and Exact (precise matches only) to control how results are matched.


Text search

Select Text mode, type a keyword, and click Search. Results appear grouped by data type — Messages and Emails — with the total result count at the top. Each result shows a preview with the keyword highlighted. The Data Sources sidebar filters to show only sources containing matches.

Scroll down to see all results. Messages and emails are listed in separate sections with individual counts.


Open a search result

Click a result to open it in the review pane. The full content appears with options to Classify the result as Responsive or Non-Resp, apply a Tag, add Comments, or Print. Click "← Back to results" to return to the search results.


Bulk search

Switch to Bulk mode to search for multiple keywords at once. Type each keyword and press Enter to add it as a chip. Use "Paste list" to add keywords from a copied list. Click "Search [N] keywords" to run the search.

Results show the total count and a per-keyword breakdown (e.g., "free": 11 · "hello": 1 · "sale": 3). Each result is labeled with the keyword it matched. The search bar displays "BULK · [N] TERMS" with the total result count.

Scroll down to see results across all data types, including messages and emails. Click "Load More" to see additional results in each section.


Filter bulk results by keyword

Click a keyword count in the results summary to filter to only that keyword's matches. The active filter appears as a chip on the right (e.g., "x free"). Click "x Clear" to remove the filter and see all results again.

Click a different keyword to switch the filter. Results update immediately — here, filtering by "hello" shows 1 matching email.

Each keyword can be selected individually to isolate its matches across messages and emails.


Edit or clear a search

Click Edit next to the result count to modify your search terms or change the search mode. Click Clear to reset the search and return to the default Case Data view.
